Four-star point guard Anton Beard, a MU commitment since June, announced via Twitter that he plans on decommitting from Missouri and reopening his recruitment.
Beard, who is listed at 5-feet-10, 180 pounds by Rivals.com, is from Little Rock, Ark., but plays his AAU basketball for Team Thad, one of the top squads in Memphis. Missouri coach Frank Haith has spoken publicly about his desire to establish a recruiting presence in that area.
As it stands, Missouri figures to have two point guards on its roster next season, provided junior Phil Pressey does not go pro. Wesley Clark, a 6-foot, 175 pound four-star prospect from Romulus, Mich., signed a letter of intent in the fall and is expected to join the team this summer.
Tulsa transfer Jordan Clarkson, who is currently sitting out while adhering to NCAA transfer rules, has also flashed the ability to handle the ball and initiate the offense. He will be eligible to play next season.
