Three teen-aged boys from Lawson, Mo., were injured, one seriously, in a single-vehicle crash in Ray County.

The crash occurred about 11:40 p.m. Saturday along Missouri Route U near Missouri Route M, which is east of Excelsior Springs.

According to the preliminary crash report from the Missouri Highway patrol:

Benton D. Maddux, 18, was driving a 2004 Dodge pickup when he lost control and traveled off the right side of the road. He then over corrected and returned to the road and then off the left side of the road, where he struck an embankment. The vehicle overturned coming to rest on the passenger side.

Maddux and a passenger, Drake R. Mortimer, 17, suffered moderate injuries. Another passenger, Kyle S. Sellers, 16, was seriously injured.

It was not known if Mddux and Sellers were wearing seatbelts. Mortimer was not wearing one, according to the Highway Patrol.
