KC shelter reduces adoption fees for some pets

Updated: 2013-02-06T00:55:50Z

Kansas City’s animal shelter has been inundated with nearly 180 new dogs and cats in the last nine days, and is appealing for the public’s help.

The shelter at 4400 Raytown Road is at capacity, with many pets brought in by animal control officers or by owners surrendering them.

KC Pet Project is offering reduced adoption fees through Feb. 13 for all pets that have been at the shelter 30 days or more. Adoption fees for those pets will be $30, including spay/neuter surgery, vaccinations, deworming and a microchip.

The reduced fee applies at both the Raytown Road facility, near the Truman Sports Complex, and at the satellite adoption center in Zona Rosa, 7351 N.W. 87th Terrace.
