Police are looking for a man who robbed a south Kansas City gas station and then carjacked a customer’s car to get away.

The robbery occurred about 9:40 p.m. Monday at the Discount Smokes and Fuel Stop at 10416 Blue Ridge Blvd.

The robber pressed a black handgun into an employee’s side and pushed him behind the counter.

“Go on back there,” the robber can be heard telling the employee on surveillance video. “Go on back there.”

“All right. All right,” the employee responded.

“Fill the bags up with money,” the robber demanded. “Fill it up with money. Hurry up.”

“I ain’t got a bag,” the employee responded.

“Hurry up. I ain’t got all day . . .” the robber said using an expletive. “Hurry up. Fill it all the way up. Fill it up.”

“Here you go brother,” the employee said as he handed the money to the clerk.

As the robber walked out, he pulled a customer out of his car.

The robber then fled in the customer’s car with an unknown amount of cash from the gas station.

Kansas City police posted the surveillance video to its channel on YouTube and released two photos from the video in hopes that someone would recognize the man. The video has explicit language.

The robber was described a 30- to 40-year-old black man. He’s about 5 foot, 3 inches to 5 foot, 6 inches tall and weighs about 120 to 140 pounds. He was wearing a black puffy coat, black sunglasses and blue jeans.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the TIPS Hotline at 816-474-TIPS (474-8477).
