Driver shot in KC expected to survive

A man suffered a gunshot wound to his groin early Monday whiles driving near Eighth Street and Benton Boulevard.

He was expected to survive his injuries, Kansas City police said.

Witnesses heard gunshots and saw the victim fall unconscious behind the wheel about 12:50 a.m. The victim crashed into another vehicle a few blocks away near Ninth Street and Bales Avenue. Police collected evidence at both scenes. Police did not release any motive or suspect information.
