Shawnee police search for man in abduction attempt

Updated: 2013-02-04T05:45:12Z

Shawnee police are asking for help finding a man who a child said tried to force him into an SUV Friday.

The boy said the attack occurred while he was walking in the 7400 block of Bond Street. He described what police said may have been a faded red SUV, possibly a Cadillac Escalade or GMC Denali with tinted windows.

The vehicle was parked in the street. As the boy approached, a man got out of the driver’s side and attempted to grab the boy while telling him to get in the car. The child ran home.

The man is described as black, 28 to 35 years old, 5-foot-10 and 150 to 175 pounds. He was wearing a red, sleeveless shirt, blue jeans and Nike Air Jordan shoes. He had shoulder-length hair in dreadlocks, possibly with beads woven in. He wore a black ball cap backward. He had a scar on his left arm and a tattoo on his upper-right arm and may have some gold caps on his teeth.

Anyone with information should call the Shawnee Police Department, 913-631-2155.
