Shawnee police seek suspect in attempted abduction

Updated: 2013-02-04T05:43:39Z

Shawnee police are looking for help finding a man who a child said tried to grab him and force him into a SUV Friday.

The child said the attack occurred while he was walking home in the 7400 block of Bond Street. The child described what police said may have been a faded red SUV, possibly a Cadillac Escalade or GMC Denali with tinted windows.

The vehicle was parked in the street, and as the boy approached, the man got out of the driver’s side and attempted to grab the boy while telling him to get in the car. The child ran away to his home.

The man is described as black, 28 to 35 years old, 5-foot-10 and weighing 150 to 175 pounds. He was wearing a red sleeveless shirt, blue jeans and Nike Air Jordan tennis shoes. He had shoulder-length hair in dread locks, possibly with beads woven in. He had a black ball cap that was worn backwards. He had a scar on his left arm and a tattoo on his upper-right arm and may have some gold caps on his teeth.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Shawnee Police Department, 913-631-2155..
