The department honored full-service restaurants, fast-food operations, school cafeterias, bakeries, convenience stores, grocery stores and others with its annual Grade A Food Excellence Awards.
The recipients include Bears Smoke Shack in the Northland, Big Mommas Bakery-Cafe and Chips Chocolate Factory in Crown Center, Boulevard Brewing Co., Five Guys Burgers and Fries in the Northland and Ward Parkway Center, You Say Tomato, several QuikTrips and several Aramark concessions at the sports stadiums and at Starlight Theatre, and several Subways.
While all food establishments in Kansas City are inspected regularly, the award winners substantially exceeded standards, the department said, and have demonstrated excellence in compliance with the citys food handler requirements and other public health standards. No violations could have been repeat violations and the violations had to be corrected on-site.
The full list is at the Kansas City Health Department website.
