Website will tout progress of KC streetcar installation

Kansas City has launched a new website — KCStreetcar.org — to keep the public up to date on construction and detour routes for the downtown streetcars, which will run from River Market to near Union Station.

Project team members will also be walking the route during the first week of February to touch base with business owners, residents and workers in the area. A public meeting is scheduled from 4 to 7 p.m. Feb. 21 at Union Station to provide project updates.

Construction is to begin this summer, and if all goes as planned, the streetcar system will be operational in the summer of 2015.
