Prognosticators: Chiefs first draft pick? Another tackle
January 28
The Kansas City Star
Early prognostications have the Chiefs taking Texas A&M tackle Luke Joeckel, and not a signal-caller, with the first overall pick in the 2013 NFL Draft.
The following survey of 14 draft projections includes eight "votes" for Joeckel, five for West Virginia quarterback Geno Smith, and one for Utah defensive lineman Star Lotulelei.
The Chiefs haven't drafted a quarterback in the first round since taking Penn State's Todd Blackledge seven overall in 1983.
This snapshot could well change in the days leading up to the April 25-27 draft, of course, so we'll continue to track the mood of the pundits each week.
