We have Bill Cosby to thank for one of the fashion trends weaving its way through winter. Cosby-inspired sweaters in an array of vibrant hues and abstract patterns are all the rage. Unlike those he wore on his “Cosby Show,” they’re actually cute.

“The ’80s are back so strong that it’s only natural for the Cosby sweater to make a comeback, too,” said Donna Foulk, owner of Donna’s Dress Shop in Westport.

She describes the Cosby sweater as any chunky or textured sweater in a saturated color with a contrasting pattern or motif. Some Cosby knock-offs are cropped or fitted, while others are loose and oversized. Foulk said that the adaptable sweaters are for anyone.

“An oversized one would look good with a dress, and a cropped one would go well with high-waisted jeans or cut-off shorts and tights,” Foulk said.

Style it: Don’t overload on ’80s when wearing a Cosby sweater, suggests Foulk. Save your colored jeans for another ensemble.
