LAWRENCE For 40 minutes, the Kansas women made Texas look like a middling junior varsity squad. Of course, that didn’t stop senior guard Angel Goodrich from reaching another milestone in a 76-38 victory over Texas on Wednesday night at Allen Fieldhouse.

Goodrich finished with 20 points and six assists, becoming the 26th player in program history to reach 1,000 points for her career. Senior forward Carolyn Davis, who already had reached the 1,000-point mark, added 18 points despite playing limited minutes in the second half of the blowout.

“That was a little shocker to me,” said Goodrich. “It’s a great honor to be part of that club, but just going out there and playing and getting a win, that felt really great.”

Goodrich, who is second in school history in career assists, finished the night with 1,016 points.

“Think about how many points she’s involved in,” KU coach Bonnie Henrickson said. “She scores a 1,000 — and then assists and extra steals and extra possessions."

Kansas (12-5 and 3-3 in the Big 12) snapped a three-game losing streak — a stretch that included a loss to No. 1 Baylor and road setbacks at Oklahoma State and Texas Tech.

If anything, Texas was a good team to get healthy against. The Longhorns (7-11, 0-7) had lost eight straight and were playing without their two leading scorers — guard Chassidy Fussell and forward Nneka Enemkpali. Kansas forced 28 turnovers and limited Texas to just 15 field goals on 27.3 percent shooting.

“There was absolutely a sense of urgency,” said Henrickson, whose squad will host Oklahoma State on Saturday. “Desperation in a good way; not in a bad way. I think … both teams felt that way. You gotta be able to bounce back.”

MANHATTAN, Kan. Despite making just seven shots from inside the arc and shooting 35 percent overall, K-State capitalized on three-point shots and turnovers to down the Cowgirls.

Brittany Chambers scored 26 points, making six of Kansas State’s 16 three-pointers. Haley Texada added 14 points and Mariah White had 11 for the Wildcats (12-7, 3-4 Big 12).

Toni Young scored 22 points and Brittney Martin chipped in 15 for Oklahoma State (14-3, 3-3), which forced overtime on Tiffany Bias’ jumper with 8 seconds left.

Oklahoma State shot 46 percent from the floor, but the Cowgirls, who entered the game averaging a Big 12-leading 6.8 more turnovers per game than their opponents, committed an uncharacteristic 18 turnovers to the Wildcats’ nine.

No. 1 Baylor 66, No. 24 Iowa State 51

AMES, Iowa Brittney Griner scored 22 points, blocked six shots and dunked for the 11th time in her career in leading top-ranked Baylor past Iowa State on Wednesday night.

Baylor (17-1, 7-0 Big 12) took control early, running off 17 straight points in the first half while holding Iowa State scoreless for 111/2 minutes.
