Construction to stymie motorists’ movement along I-435/U.S. 69 in Johnson County

Updated: 2013-01-21T18:58:59Z

Motorists will need to practice a lot of patience this week as a bridge construction project will force detours along a popular route in Johnson County.

The ramp from eastbound Interstate 435 to northbound U.S. 69 will be closed after the morning rush hour on Wednesday and Thursday, according to the Kansas Department of Transportation.

Crews will close the ramp so that bridge piers for a new ramp bridge from southbound U.S. 69 to College Boulevard can be built.

The ramp will reopen at 3:30 p.m. each day in time for the evening rush hour. But during the ramp closures, traffic will be detoured along southbound U.S. 69 to College Boulevard and then back onto northbound U.S. 69.

Drivers are being warned to expect delays and to seek alternate routes while the ramp is closed.
