K-State’s Klein, Malone chosen to East-West Shrine Game

Kansas State quarterback Collin Klein and defensive back Nigel Malone were chosen Tuesday to play in the 88th East-West Shrine Game on Jan. 19 in St. Petersburg, Fla. The game kicks off at 3 p.m. and will be televised on NFL Network.

Klein, a Heisman Trophy finalist, led K-State to a school-record tying 11-2 season and a 22-6 career record as starting quarterback, also tying a Wildcats record. He accounted for 39 total touchdowns, 23 rushing and 16 passing, and threw for 2,641 yards with a 64.8 completion percentage.

Malone tied for a team high with five interceptions this season after finishing with seven picks in 2011.

K-State linebacker Arthur Brown and wide receiver Chris Harper will play in the Senior Bowl on Jan. 26, which also kicks off at 3 p.m. and will be shown on NFL Network.
