Kansas State vs. No. 14 Gonzaga
Kansas State University
Kansas State-Gonzaga basketball preview
December 14
• WHEN/WHERE: 8 p.m. Saturday at KeyArena in Seattle
• TV/RADIO: ESPN2; WHB (810 AM)
• ABOUT KANSAS STATE (7-1): K-State won at George Washington, and played in front of a pro-Michigan crown at the NIT Season Tip-Off, but the Wildcats havent faced an environment like they will see Saturday at KeyArena. Gonzaga has a strong following throughout Washington. Even though the game is technically on a neutral court, the Bulldogs will benefit from a rowdy fan advantage. K-State held off George Washington thanks to a big first half from McGruder and a nice second half from Rodriguez. It didnt get much help inside, though. That will need to change against Gonzagas front line. Gipson and Jordan Henriquez need to be ready to go to work.
• ABOUT GONZAGA (9-1): Gonzaga is coming off its first loss, an 85-74 home defeat to Illinois. The Bulldogs will try to rebound from losing to Bruce Webers old team against Webers new team. Gonzaga and K-State agreed to a neutral-court series of games last offseason. Weber said this week the return game could be at Wichitas Intrust Bank Arena next season. Gonzaga has the tallest front line K-State has faced. Three of the Bulldogs players are 6-9 or taller. Gonzaga has already played two Big 12 opponents, beating Oklahoma and West Virginia by more than 20.
