The Royals must like the performance of their minor-league clubs after announcing plans Friday to keep the same managers in place at all seven of its domestic affiliates.
Mike Jirschele will return to Class AAA Omaha for an 11th straight season. He guided the Storm Chasers to the 2011 Pacific Coast League title and into the 2012 championship series.
Brian Poldberg will lead Class AA Northwest Arkansas for a sixth straight season, while Vance Wilson is back for second year at High-A Wilmington.
Brian Buchanan remains manager of the club’s Low-A affiliate – Lexington in 2013, which replaces Kane County in the Royals’ affiliate roster.
The three short-season clubs also retained their managers: Oscar Ramirez at Idaho Falls, Tommy Shields at Burlington and Darryl Kennedy at Surprise.
The organization’s only managerial change is for its club in the Dominican Summer League, where Ramon Martinez replaces José Mejia. Martinez served last season at the club’s infield coach.
