Royals release 2013 spring schedule

— Start the countdown. It’s less than two months before the Royals begin reporting for spring training in Surprise, Ariz.

The club released its 36-game schedule Tuesday, which includes 21 games at Surprise Stadium, along with ticket information.

Pitchers and catchers report Feb. 11, and the first full-squad workout is Feb. 15. The spring schedule begins Feb. 22 with the first of three straight games against complex co-tenant Texas at Surprise Stadium.

The Royals have 18 home games plus three “road games” against the Rangers. The spring schedule concludes March 29 before the club breaks camp for its April 1 opener against the White Sox in Chicago.

Mail-order sales for season-ticket packages for games at Surprise Stadium begin Dec. 17. Orders can be placed by calling the Surprise Recreation Campus at 623-222-2222. A ticket brochure can also be obtained online at royals.com.

Online pre-sales for individual game tickets begin Dec. 17 through royals.com or by calling 800-745-3000. Walk-up purchases begin Jan. 5.
