Key play: Nigel Malone dropped the ball short of the end zone on an interception return, but K-State was allowed to retain the ball at the 1 and scored on the next play.
Key stat: Chris Harper caught three passes for 59 yards.
Second quarter
Key play: Daje Johnson caught a 70-yard pass that set up a Texas field goal.
Key stat: Case McCoy threw for 149 yards.
Third quarter
Key play: John Hubert scored on a 3-yard run that put K-State ahead 21-17.
Key stat: K-State gained 142 yards of offense.
Fourth quarter
Key play: Collin Klein hit Tyler Lockett for a 55-yard touchdown pass that allowed K-State to begin pulling away.
Key stat: K-State beat Texas for the fifth straight time.
Player of the game: Running back John Hubert scored three touchdowns and gave K-States running game life with double-digit gains when he was in the backfield.
Reason to hope: K-State will get Big 12 championship shirts, rings and hats for this victory. It will also go to the Fiesta Bowl. Both are great accomplishments for a program that has gone without them since 2003.
Reason to mope: Collin Klein might not have done enough against Texas to win the Heisman Trophy.
Looking ahead: K-State will learn its bowl opponent Sunday. Most expect it to face Oregon in the Fiesta Bowl.
