The Chiefs issued the following statement: “After discussions between the league office, head coach Romeo Crennel and Chiefs team captains, the Chiefs advised the NFL that it will play tomorrow’s game vs. the Carolina Panthers at its originally scheduled time.”
According to the Charlotte Observer, the NFL told the Panthers to fly to Kansas City as scheduled for the game.
Belcher shot and killed his girlfriend at a home Saturday morning before taking his own life at the Chiefs’ training facility.
In 2010, the Denver Broncos played a game as scheduled six days after Broncos wide receiver Kenny McKinley committed suicide at his home.
