Fun facts about the new movie Life of Pi, based on the 2001 Yann Martel novel about a young boy shipwrecked with a hungry tiger:
• Spider-Man Tobey Maguire shot several scenes in the role as the writer who interviews the main character, Pi Patel, as an adult. But insiders say that director Ang Lee, who had directed Tobey in The Ice Storm, decided Tobey was too famous in a movie mostly full of no-names (except for Gerard Depardieu) and recast the role.
• Lee chose 17-year-old Suraj Sharma out of more than 3,000 young men to play the lead role. With no acting experience, Suraj had to learn how to swim and underwent a dramatic physical transformation, first gaining 17 pounds of muscle and then losing nearly 40 pounds for the starvation scenes.
• Filmmakers built the worlds largest self-generating wave tank in Taiwan to film the shipwreck scenes and the horrific Storm of God.
Charlie to the rescue
Charlie Sheen has reportedly bailed Lindsay Lohan out of some of her tax problems by cutting her a check for $100,000.
The story, according to TMZ:
The two apparently bonded a few months ago on the set of Scary Movie 5 and became so close that Lindsay didnt think anything of sharing the fact that she owes the IRS nearly $234,000 in unpaid taxes.
Sources tell TMZ that Charlie offered to give her money right then and there, but she refused.
But lo, last week, Lindsays business manager received a check from Charlie for $100,000, which was sent to Uncle Sam to cover some of her debt.
We take back nearly every bad thing weve ever thought about Charlie.
Is he in or out?
Even though Jackie Chan has announced that hes retiring from action flicks, his Rush Hour co-star Chris Tucker hopes that doesnt mean an end to their successful on-screen partnership.
Rush Hour 4?
I hope it happens. We need to do one more, Chris tells Marc Malkin of E! News. I just want us to be free and do our thing. I love working with Jackie, being around Jackie. Stuff just happens when were together.
Jackie announced earlier this year that hes leaving the business after making 100 movies because hes getting too old for all those stunts and he doesnt like how violent movies have become.

When we saw Ted earlier this year, we left the movie theater hoping, praying, that someone would come up with a talking Ted teddy bear, dirty mouth and all.
And they have!
The 16-inch Ted teddy bear ($34.99 at nbcuniversalstore.com) is an R-rated, potty-mouthed little bugger who spews gems from the movie, including You know what Id like to do to her? Something I call a Dirty Fozzie.
Keep him away from your Cabbage Patch Kids.
