KU, K-State honored on all-Big 12 volleyball team

Kansas’ Ray Bechard was chosen coach of the year and two players from KU and K-State were selected to the all-Big 12 volleyball team released Monday.

Jayhawks junior middle blocker Caroline Jarmoc and sophomore outside hitter Sara McClinton were first-team all-Big 12. Junior setter Erin McNorton and junior libero Brianne Riley received honorable mention, and outside hitter Tiana Dockery made the all-freshman team.

Wildcats senior setter Caitlyn Donahue from Blue Valley West and junior middle blocker Kaitlynn Pelger of Olathe South made the first team and senior middle blocker Alex Muff received honorable mention.

The No. 20 Jayhawks are host to a NCAA tournament regional on Friday and Saturday at Allen Fieldhouse. KU plays Cleveland State at 6:30 p.m. Friday with the winner playing either Wichita State or Arkansas at 6:30 p.m. Saturday for a spot in the Sweet 16.

Kansas State will play Northern Iowa in the first round Thursday in Lincoln, Neb. The winner will play either Nebraska or Maryland-Eastern Shore on Friday.
