Be careful when purchasing your holiday poinsettia. This weekend I noticed shoppers carrying their purchase out to the car with little or no extra protection. To a poinsettia temperatures below 55 degrees is cold. Chilling the plant, even the brief walk from the store to the car can result in leaf drop. So cover up all parts of the plant to protect from the wind and temperatures when transporting. This will help ensure they last all season long. - Dennis - Johnson County Extension -
