Sequins, crystals and glistening threads take the chill out of your winter wardrobe. Pairing a cold weather piece with a pop of shine makes the season brighter, says Megan McWhirter, store manager of Hot Mama in Leawood

“Call it rustic glam or cabin-y but pretty,” McWhirter says. “It’s about taking your favorite look from casual to sparkling.”

McWhirter, a native Minnesotan who loves her winter wool, says that layering for freezing temps can feel heavy. Sparkling pieces make piling on suede, leather or faux fur seem lighter, brighter and more luxurious, she adds.
