Updated: 2012-11-23T21:23:07Z

A man Raytown police found stabbed Thursday night declined to press charges against his assailant, whom he identified as a friend.

At around 10:30 p.m. authorities responded to a disturbance call in the 10500 block of East 71st Terrace. They found a man who had been stabbed, and also detained a second man they found hiding in bushes. The victim told police that he and the second man, a friend, had been fighting.

Police apprehended the friend. But after being taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, the victim told detectives that he didn’t want to prosecute his friend.

The man then was released from custody, Raytown police said.
