K-States victory over Delaware in the NIT Season Tip-Off marked its first victory at Madison Square Garden.
The Wildcats were 0-5 in the famous arena before Wednesday. Their first visit to the venue came in 1948 with K-State losing to Holy Cross in the Final Four.
Their most recent trip came in 2007. Notre Dame won that game.
Spradling takes hard falls
Will Spradling took a couple hard falls on Wednesday.
The junior guard from Overland Park twice fell to the ground in the second half while fighting for a loose ball.
The first came while he was diving out of bounds and crashed into the media table and fell in some soda.
He quickly bounced up and run up court, but had to sling the liquid off on his way.
The second came while going up for a rebound. He was shoved to the ground by a Delaware defender, and a foul was called.
Breaking down the game
First-half key play: Shane Southwell hit a jumper with 5 seconds remaining to give K-State a 27-25 lead.
First-half key stat: K-State made one of seven three-pointers.
Second-half key play: Angel Rodriguez made a driving layup through a foul for a traditional three-point play that put K-State ahead 47-39.
Second-half key stat: Spradling made all four of his clutch free throws.
