Update: Steel worker lockout continues at KC company

Updated: 2012-11-20T20:05:01Z

A federal mediator continued to meet Tuesday afternoon with representatives of Milbank Manufacturing Co. and the United Steel Workers Local 13-07.

The Kansas City manufacturer locked out the union early Monday when its contract expired. The union contends the lockout was unlawful.

The two sides disagree over proposed contract terms, including cost increases for union members in the company’s health insurance plan. More talks are scheduled for Wednesday.

The union has 194 members at Milbank, which makes circuit boxes, electrical panels and other devices.
