Independence police are seeking the public’s help in locating a man who they believe has information about a triple homicide that occurred early Friday in the 1500 block of South Pope Avenue.

Police said Antonio Cervantes III, 32, knew several people who lived in the residence.

An Independence woman and her adult son were among three people shot to death in a home invasion attack that occurred about 4 a.m. The incident involved two armed men and possibly a third. Police said they believe it was not a random attack. A fourth person was critically wounded, police said.

Police identified the victims as Maria Hernandez, 48; her son, Antonio Hernandez, 20; and Tomas Dominguez, whom police previously identified as Tomas Madrigal. He was the boyfriend of Maria Hernandez. Police did not have his age. The identity and age of the wounded victim was not released.

Neighbors said a teenager who lived at the house ran to a neighbor’s house to call police after the shooting.

Police described one gunman as a light-skinned Hispanic man with light-colored hair and a stocky build. He was wearing predominantly red clothing and red gloves. A second gunman wore mostly dark clothing and had his face covered. The third possible gunman wore red pants and a dark jacket.

Anyone with information about Cervantes or anything about the crime is asked to call the TIPS Hotline at 816-474-TIPS (8477) or the Independence police at 816-836- 3600.
