Multiple sources told The Star on Thursday night that Richardson has been suspended for Saturday’s game for a “violation of team rules.” The infraction is not legal or NCAA related, and the suspension is expected to last one game.
Chad Moller, an associate athletic director of strategic communications, declined comment.
Richardson, a 6-foot-4, 295-pound junior, has been one of Missouri’s best and most disruptive players on defense this season, leading the Tigers with a team-high 70 tackles (9 1/2 for loss).
His suspension would leave a void in the middle of the defense Saturday, when the Tigers, 5-5, go for bowl eligibility against Syracuse, 5-5.
