Wearing denim on top and bottom has its rules, say the stylemakers at Madewell, a J. Crew concept that sells contemporary women’s clothing. The trick to making denim-on-denim cool is how you work in the different shades, according to the company. For example, dark denim jeans look good with a pale chambray or a washed indigo jacket.
Matchy-matchy denim might set you back a decade or two. It may also make you look like you landed a seat at the Country Music Association Awards. Regardless, stylish celebrities such as Reese Witherspoon and Katie Holmes are giving denim ensembles a spin.
