First quarter

Key play: Matt Cassel passed 38 yards to Tony Moeaki to the Pittsburgh 25, setting up the game’s first touchdown and giving the Chiefs their first lead of the season.

Key stat: 494 minutes, 51 seconds, the amount of playing time this season before the Chiefs took a lead.

Second quarter

Key play: Ben Roethlisberger passed 7 yards to Mike Wallace for a touchdown that tied the game at 10-10.

Key stat: The Steelers were three of four on third-down conversions.

Third quarter

Key play: Ryan Succop missed a 33-yard field goal attempt that would have put the Chiefs ahead.

Key stat: Succop has missed a field goal in each of the last two games.

Fourth quarter

Key play: Pittsburgh’s Shaun Suisham kicked a 31-yard field goal that put the Steelers ahead 13-10.

Key stat: 3, the number of Chiefs drives that consisted of three plays and a punt to start the period.

Overtime

Key play: Lawrence Timmons intercepted Matt Cassel’s first pass of overtime and returned it to the Chiefs’ 5.

Key stat: 1, the number of Chiefs turnovers in the game. But it was a big one.

Player of the game: Busy night for linebacker Derrick Johnson.

Reason to hope: The Chiefs can be competitive if they can take a lead.

Reason to mope: Judging from their numerous celebrations, the Chiefs have been spending too much time working on things other than football.
