The Wooden Award offers 50.
Technically, it’s not a team but a watch list, but the impact is the same – recognition for expected excellence and several players from the region are on the list.
Kansas guard Elijah Johnson and center Jeff Withey, Missouri guard Phil Pressey and Kansas State swing Rodney McGruder cracked the list.
Also from the Big 12: Baylor guard Pierre Jackson and Oklahoma State guard Le’Bryan Nash.
The SEC was represented by Florida guard Kenny Boynton and center Patric Young, Georgia guard Kentavious Caldwell-Pope, Tennessee forward Jarnell Stokes and Arkansas’ BJ Young.
What, no Kentucky Wildcats?
Freshmen and transfers aren’t eligible for the list, so no Kentucky freshmen like Nerlens Noel and Alex Poythress, or other freshmen like UCLA’s Shabazz Muhammad, Oklahoma State’s Marcus Smart or Kansas’ Ben McLemore.
Freshmen and first year players can be ranked on the Wooden Award mid-season top 50.
