Gaga weighs in

We’ll give Lady Gaga credit and assume that she didn’t mean to throw fellow singer Adele under the bus.

In a recent interview with British magazine Stylist, Gaga talked about all that recent hubbub over her weight.

“Everybody was telling me about it, and I didn’t really care,” she said. “But when I heard it was on the news, where they talk about wars, the economy crashing and the election, I just thought, ‘This is (bleeping) ridiculous.’

“I mean, what kind of example is that to a young girl sitting at home? I thought, well I don’t really care if they think I’m fat, because, quite honestly, I did gain about 30 pounds.

“Adele is bigger than me, how come nobody says anything about it? She’s so wonderful, and I think her confidence is something I have to match. She has set the bar very high for a lot of women. I need to be a confident woman and just say politically active things when I can that are helpful to young people.”

No bones about it

Title of journalist Richard Cohen’s new book: “I Want to Kill the Dog.”

What Richard’s wife says about the title: He’s joking.

Richard is married to former “Today” host Me redith Vieira, and the two recently stopped by the show so that Richard could gripe about family dog Jasper. “I find it mind-boggling that anybody can be as affectionate and pay as much attention to (him) as Meredith does,” Richard told Matt Lauer.

“I don’t think that Richard has ever really taken to Jasper the way one would hope,” Meredith groused.

All kidding aside ...

“I was beginning work on a much more serious book, another book about chronic illness,” said Richard, who has had multiple sclerosis most of his life, “and the dog started barking. I was talking to my agent, and I said, ‘I’d really rather write a book about how I would kill the dog.’ ”

Jasper’s place in the family became a theme as Richard wrote about his marriage and living with MS.

“Meredith and I both use humor as a coping mechanism,” he said. “It’s really what gets you through the day.”

Still clueless

Seventeen years after “Clueless,” Alicia Silverstone and filmmaker Amy Heckerling (“Fast Times at Ridgemont High”) are working together again.

Their new movie, “Vamps,” written and directed by Heckerling, stars Alicia as Goody, a 19th-century vampire-socialite living in Manhattan with her BFF, played by Krysten Ritter. Amy and Alicia recently talked to the Daily Beast about “Clueless” and being clueless.

Amy on “Clueless” casting: “I was happy with every single person. But Dan Hedaya (Cher’s father), at one point, producers asked me who I wanted to be the father and I’d say, ‘I want somebody who’s usually playing a hit man,’ and the first thought that came into my head is Harvey Keitel. But they said, ‘That’s too expensive,’ blah blah.”

Alicia on Facebook: “I don’t have a personal Facebook page, and for the last five years when I’m working with younger people, I’ll ask them about their Facebook — they really love this Facebook thing — and Twitter. I use Twitter to recommend things, like vegan ice cream instead of icky ice cream, so it’s a forum for me to be an activist. But this girl I used to work with would have the weirdest pictures of herself up on her Facebook page, along with details of where they were going and what they were doing. My brain couldn’t really understand how that works!”

Don’t hate her because she’s beautiful

It warmed our Stargazing heart to see people coming together to help out in the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy.

And then, there was Brazilian model Nana Gouvea.

She was in New York when the storm hit. And instead of filling sandbags, she and her husband, Carlos Keyes, used the devastation as one giant photo op.

There’s Nana posing on top of wrecked cars! There’s Nana posing in front of fallen trees! There’s Nana posting all those pics on her Facebook page!

Quickly, people started Photoshopping her into other disaster photos. There’s Nana on the Titanic! There’s Nana at the Hindenburg crash!

We love the Internet.

Stargazer Lisa Gutierrez thinks Alicia Silverstone is clueless about ice cream. To reach her, call 816-234-4987 or send email to lgutierrez@kcstar.com.
