Reasons for voting

Election Day! The time to cast our ballots is arriving,

Which proves that our democracy is vibrant, active, thriving.

Now, some will vote with civic pride, in thinking that they ought

In debt to Founding Fathers and the miracle they wrought.

And others with excitement stirred by party, cause or faction:

Some issue or some candidate has prompted them to action;

It hardly seems it’s likely they’ll assume these duties lightly.

So many reasons — valid, all — but mine is different slightly…

’Cause mainly I’m just showing up for just one reason noted:

To get that little sticker that proclaims that I have voted!
