Kansas appears to now be in the mix for the best high school player in the country.

Andrew Wiggins, a 6-foot-7, 190-pound small forward at Huntington Prep (W.Va.), officially reclassified into the Class of 2013 on Thursday, according to multiple reports.

The news of his reclassification, which was originally reported by USA Today, was coupled by reports that a Kansas assistant was expected to visit Wiggins on Thursday. 

Wiggins, a native of Thornhill, Ontario, Canada, was originally a member of the Class of 2014. He immediately became the No. 1 overall recruit in the Class of 2013, according to Rivals, upon his reclassification. Wiggins is widely viewed among recruiting insiders as one of the best high school prospects in recent memory.

According to Rivals, Kentucky and Florida State were long thought to be the favorites to land Wiggins. Wiggins’ father, Mitchell, played at Florida State, while his older brother, Nick, is a junior transfer at Wichita State. North Carolina is also actively recruiting Wiggins, according to Rivals.

KU currently has four commitments in its 2013 class — Wichita guard Conner Frankamp, Georgia swingman Brannen Greene, shooting guard Wayne Selden and point guard Frank Mason. The Jayhawks continue to target power forwards Aaron Gordon and Julius Randle, two top-10 recruits, Florida center Joel Embiid, and New Jersey small forward Tyler Roberson.
