Most of you probably have your attention turned to the spectacle that is looming tonight at Livestrong Sporting Park.
The Kansas City Star
The U.S. Men's National team will try to stamp its travel card for "The Hex" -- the final round of CONCACAF World Cup qualifying -- tonight against Guatemala. There have already been one or two or three stories on the blog to get you ready for that.
But there are a few pieces of Sporting Kansas City news floating around today worth investing a few soccer brain cells on.
If you trust news out of England -- which, honestly, when it comes to player rumors is often not worth investing that much time in -- EPL side Wigan are near a deal for the soon-to-be out-of-contract midfielder Roger Espinoza. (That's according to the Daily Mail.)
While it's not certain where Espinoza will wind up at this point, one thing is sure: Dude's getting paid. Either Sporting KC will open the piggy bank (the team is near the bottom of the league in payroll) and make Roger a designated-player contract or Wigan will snatch him up.
The other piece of news is that NBC Sports will pick up KC's regular season finale against Philadelphia and broadcast the match nationally. Locally, the match will still be on KSMO-TV with Callum Williams and Jake Yadrich. (The NBC Sports broadcast will be blacked out here in KC.)
This will be the ninth time that Sporting KC have featured on national TV -- including four times on NBC Sports.
