— KU senior guard Angel Goodrich had a breakout performance last season during the Jayhawks’ run to the Sweet 16. It appears she won’t go unnoticed this season.

Goodrich on Wednesday earned preseason all-Big 12 first-team honors. The preseason all-Big 12 team, voted on by the league’s coaches, also consisted of preseason player of the year Brittney Griner of Baylor, Bears junior guard Odyssey Sims, Iowa State senior forward Chelsea Poppens and Oklahoma junior guard Aaryn Ellenberg.

Texas Tech’s Jackie Patterson was preseason newcomer of the year and Baylor’s Alexis Prince was preseason freshman of the year.

Goodrich, a 5-foot-4 guard from Tahlequah, Okla., averaged 14.0 points and 4.1 rebounds while leading the nation with 7.4 assists per game last season. She also broke a 24-year-old school assists record with 250 assists in 2011-12, which was also a Big 12 record.

Kansas senior Carolyn Davis and Kansas State senior Brittany Chambers received preseason honorable mention.
