The home’s manager found him critically injured in his second-floor room just before 9 a.m. Tuesday in the 1700 block of East Linwood Boulevard.
The manager had become concerned about the man because he hadn’t seen him in a while. The victim’s door was locked, so the manager kicked it open.
He found the victim, bleeding, on the floor.
The victim had invited a friend over to watch television Monday night. The manager heard a lot of yelling, but that wasn’t out of the ordinary. The manager also heard banging on the floors and walls overnight, police said.
One other man, who is nearly blind, lives in the home, police said.
Investigators interviewed the friend, manager, housemate and others who know the victim. Detectives are still trying to notify relatives. Police are awaiting results of tests from the crime lab that they hope will shed more light on what happened.
Police don’t believe anything was taken from the victim, so the motive is unknown.
