The list is provided by Kit Lewis, a K-State grad and loyal reader who gave us some food recommendations last season before the Cotton Bowl.

From Kit: In case you might have forgotten, I gave you a list of restaurants for the Wildcat Nation to try on the trip south to the Cotton Bowl last year. Although the game didn’t turn out as well as hoped, I thought a slightly revised list might be useful when Purple Pride invades Norman this Saturday.
A quick search on the Internet will give addresses and contact numbers for a large number of eating places in Norman. There is a plethora of fast food and chain restaurants all along I-35 … not that their food is bad, but here are some local places I enjoy more.
If staying in OKC, there are lots of places in Bricktown, and Cattleman’s Steak House (1309 South Agnew) is a local legend.
In Norman:

The Diner
– 213 E. Main: Good breakfasts and was featured on Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives.

La Baguette
– 924 W. Main and 1130 Rambling Oaks: French pastries and breads to die for!

The Mont
– 1300 Classen: Close to the OU campus, a Norman landmark.

Tarahumara Mexican Restaurant
– 702 N. Porter: Forget the other Mexican places…in my opinion this is THE place for authentic Mexican dishes and the service is excellent! Don’t be deterred by a long line, it is worth the wait, in my opinion.

Jimmy’s Egg
– 2539 W. Main: Great omelette selection and varied menu. Can’t go wrong here.

Van’s Smokehouse BBQ
– 320 N. Porter: Not fancy, but some time a guy just gotta have meat!

Sweet Basil Thai Restaurant
– 211 W. Main: Try this if you are in the mood for something more exotic.

Juan del Fuego’s
– 223, 34th Ave. SW: Might be a little hard to find, but worth the effort. Located in the Red Bud Plaza strip mall, the breakfasts are outstanding. AND, while you are there check out the cup cake shop next door … Sweets and Spurs is fun with a nice selection of treats that will make you forget a diet in a heartbeat.

Kendell’s
– 100 S. Main St., Nobel: If you are in the mood for Chicken Fried Steak, this is the place! Nobel is only about 8 miles south of Norman on old highway 77, and is definitely worth the drive. The CFS is huge.
Hope this list will be of use to the loyal followers of K-State football. Good luck to the Cats … it’s hell being a Wildcat trapped in Sooner land!

from Oklahoma coming out of high school? The Tulsa World’s John Hoover isn’t sure, but he suggests Bob Stoops should have recruited him based on his past experiences with his father.
Stoops obviously can’t offer scholarships to every dynamic young receiver and return specialist in the country. And he can’t be expected to offer every Oklahoma kid who wants to be a Sooner.
But whether he wanted to go to Norman or not, Tyler Lockett should have gotten an offer from Stoops. Not only because Stoops knows how good his dad was, but because Tyler Lockett is good enough to have helped this Oklahoma team.
– Bruce Weber picked up his third commitment for the class of 2013, Houston small forward Wesley Iwundu. He looks like he will be a good addition for the Wildcats. Iwundu plays on the same Houston Defenders AAU basketball team as highly-rated recruits Aaron and Andrew Harrison and knows how to play in big settings. He can use his size to get to the basket, but also likes bringing the ball up court and passing. He chose K-State over SMU, because of a strong relationship with assistant coach Alvin Brooks III and an even stronger respect for the Big 12.
