— Missouri’s football team is benefiting from a former recruit’s change of heart.

Mississippi offensive lineman Mitch Hall, a 6-foot-6, 315-pounder who redshirted last season, announced on Facebook that he is transferring to Missouri. The announcement confirmed an initial report by PowerMizzou.com about his decision.

On his Facebook page, Hall wrote:

“It’s now official. God is leading me on a new journey and I’m transferring to Missouri. I would like to thank everyone at Ole Miss for everything and best of luck to the Rebels this season.”

Hall, a native of Russellville, Ark., chose Mississippi over Missouri in May 2010, becoming the first player in the Class of 2011 to commit to the Rebels. At the time, he said his family ties to the school — his brother Matt was already an offensive lineman there — played a significant role in his decision.

But Matt Hall, who was eligible to play for the Rebels in 2011 and 2012 after he decided to transfer from Arkansas, left the team before this season. Mitch Hall reported for fall camp, though he was not listed on the preseason depth chart.
