THE OFFENSE
Red Zone
Chiefs day in camp for Tuesday
August 14
Each of the 2-minute drills ended with a Ryan Succop field-goal attempt. He made both tries, the first one from 38 yards and the second from 32. Ricky Stanzi had mixed results during seven-on-seven passing drills. He threw a perfectly placed pass to the back shoulder of Josh Bellamy along the left sideline. But two plays later, the ball fell out of Stanzis hand as he tried a pump fake. Brady Quinn, Stanzis competition for backup QB, made a couple of great throws. While rolling to his right, he hit Terrance Copper along the right sideline. Later, Quinn threw a perfectly placed fade pass to Bellamy during his 2-minute drill.
THE DEFENSE
Stanford Routt broke up what looked to be a sure completion of a Matt Cassel pass intended for Steve Breaston. Jacques Reeves broke up a Quinn pass intended for Jamar Newsome.
INJURY REPORT
Cornerback Brandon Flowers (foot), safety Travis Daniels (hamstring), linebacker Cameron Sheffield (groin), defensive lineman Ethan Johnson (head), running back Cyrus Gray (hamstring) and wide receiver Junior Hemingway (groin) did not practice.
DAILY BATTLE
Grays absence from practice, if its lengthy, could guarantee that Shaun Draughn will make the roster as the third running back. Draughn received a lot of snaps with the starters in practice on Tuesday.
BY THE NUMBERS
2008 That was the last time the Chiefs won their preseason game against St. Louis. Since then, the Rams have won twice. The teams did not play each another in the preseason in 2010, but the Chiefs beat St. Louis that year in the regular season.
