Sporting News: Collin to miss 1-2 weeks, Espinoza's Olympic debut
July 26
The Kansas City Star
He has been diagnosed with two facial fractures. He's expected to miss 1-2 weeks. (He was already suspended from the U.S. Open Cup Final on August 8 for yellow-card accumulation.)
The Frenchman was pulled off the field after 36 minutes. Conspiracy alert: Despite looking woozy and very injured, he played three minutes (and was partly responsible for allowing Chelsea's first goal) before coming off.
Lawrence Olum will likely be Collin's replacement, though manager Peter Vermes could opt for newcomer Neven Markovic to get his league debut on Saturday against Columbus.
• Sporting Kansas City's only Olympian, Roger Espinoza, went 90 minutes and picked up a yellow card in a 2-2 draw between Honduras and Morocco in Glasgow.
It was the opening match for men's football in the London Olympics. Honduras got two goals from New England Revolution forward Jerry Bengston.
Espinoza and Honduras will face spain on Sunday in Newcastle.
