The new operation will occupy 25,000 square feet in the GE Capital Retail Bank building at 9510 W. 67th St. and is expected to open in fall. The call center will provide customer service to future GE Capital Bank individual account holders.
“I’m excited that GE Capital Bank has decided to establish a significant presence in Merriam,” Kansas Commerce Secretary Pat George said in a statement.
Hiring is expected to occur in two phases. People interested in applying should go to the GE jobs website at GEcareers.com beginning next week.
“We’re very pleased to be coming to Merriam, where we intend to build a world-class customer call center to support our planned consumer deposit-taking business,” said Tim Carfi, CEO of GE Capital Bank.
Earlier in the week, the Results Companies of Dania Beach., Fla., announced that it was opening a call center in downtown Lawrence that would bring about 300 new jobs. Results handles customer service for several Fortune 500 companies and is expected to begin operations by Sept. 1.
