Robert P. Walker, 55, was killed when a 3-ton suspended crane fell from an overhead beam, striking him and a co-worker, police said.
The second employee was taken from the scene by ambulance, but his injuries were not considered life-threatening, said Lt. Clint Reno of the Excelsior Springs Police Department.
Officers responded about 9:30 a.m. to a call from Rexam, a plastics manufacturing facility at 1701 Johnson Industrial Drive.
Representatives of the Occupational Safety and Health Administration were on the scene, Reno said.
