OU picked to win Big 12, K-State sixth, KU last in poll

The Big 12 preseason media poll was released Thursday and Oklahoma was selected to win its eighth conference championship.

The Sooners received 32 of 41 first-place votes and 396 points. West Virginia, chosen second, had 339 points and seven first-place votes. Texas was third, defending Big 12 champion Oklahoma State was fourth.

Kansas State, coming off an 10-3 season, was picked sixth and Kansas, under new coach Charlie Weis and coming off a 2-10 season, was picked last.

West Virginia and TCU, which was picked fifth, are playing their first season in the Big 12. Both won their previous conference titles last year: West Virginia in the Big East and TCU in the Mountain West.
