Memorial, fund set for slain Platte County sisters

The services for Britny Haarup, 19, and Ashley Key, 22, both of Edgerton, is scheduled to begin at 7:30 p.m. at the church at 5705 Route Z. The family has asked those attending to dress in bright colors, not black attire.
The bodies of the two women were found Sunday close to a tree line near Trimble in southwest Clinton County. On Monday, Platte County authorities charged Clifford B. Miller, 31, of Trimble, with first-degree murder in the slayings. Miller, court documents contend, told investigators he beat and suffocated the two women in a rape attempt that turned deadly.
Miller said he had smoked meth before arriving early Friday at Haarups home in Edgerton.
Haarups fiancé, Matt Meyers, discovered the women missing when he came home Friday afternoon. Meyers is the father of Haarups 6- and 18-month-old children. He found them alone inside the residence. They were unharmed.
A website, CelebrateBritnyAndAshley.com, has been set up as a memorial.
A memorial fund has been set up for the womens children:
