MUs Lucas Vincent injured
By TEREZ A. PAYLORThe Kansas City Star
Missouris depth at defensive tackle has taken a slight hit.
Genia Vincent, the mother of redshirt sophomore Lucas Vincent, told The Star on Tuesday that he tore his pectoral muscle on Monday. Vincent was told by a doctor that he will need four weeks to recover, but will not need surgery.
That timeframe puts Vincent in position to be ready to contribute by Sept. 1, when Missouri opens the season against Southeastern Louisiana.
Vincent, a graduate of Olathe North, is expected to contribute heavily at defensive tackle this season, with the graduation of Dominique Hamilton and Terrell Resonno. The 6-foot-2, 295-pound defensive tackle entered the spring listed at first-string nose guard, and was one of a handful of tackles along with sophomore Matt Hoch to earn praise for his spring performance from coach Gary Pinkel.
