Updated: 2012-07-16T17:41:16Z

A new special agent in charge of the FBI’s Kansas City Division was announced Monday by FBI Director Robert Mueller.

Michael Kaste has been with the FBI since 1988 and most recently was posted at the bureau’s headquarters in Washington, D.C., where he served as chief of the internal investigations section.

He previously worked at the FBI offices in Chicago, Albany, N.Y., and St. Louis and was also the FBI’s on-scene commander in Iraq for five months in 2008 and 2009.

Kaste is replacing Brian Truchon, who has been assigned to the bureau’s information technology engineering division.
