Thank-you notes

The thank-yous are waiting, they need to be written;

But by my own sloth I am woefully bitten.

The chore has been put off, delayed and postponed —

You’d think that by now I’d have somehow atoned.

How those who were kindly must think me a lout!

As weeks turn to months with no thank-yous sent out.

I wonder just how late is too late to send?

Before I have snubbed each acquaintance and friend.

Advice would be welcome; I’d thank you profusely

(But not very timely — I’m speaking quite loosely.)
