As you might imagine, many New York Yankees' fans didn't take kindly to the repeated booing that greeted their All-Star second baseman - Robinson Cano - during Monday night's home run derby at Kauffman Stadium.
In fact, some were downright upset on message boards linked to local New York media outlets. A few (printable) examples, with the caveat that there were positive remarks as well on some of the boards:
"Kansas city finally has something to feel good about and look forward to and what do they do ? Make complete fools out of themselves. KC, u deserve everything you've been getting for the last 27 yrs."
"absolutely disgusting!! kansas city is disgraceful!! hope they bottom out...really pathetic behavior for what was supposed to be a fun night"
"What a sickening display. I am embarrassed for Cano. I am embarrassed for the people of Kansas City. I am embarrassed for MLB and ESPN. But mostly I am embarrassed to be a baseball fan."
"A bunch of Classless fans. Still trying to figure out who Billy Butler is? Anyway sorry to see Robbie treated so badly by Fans in an exhibition, with no fault on Robbie. It was embarrassing to watch."
"The Kansas City fans just showed the world how pathetic they are for booing Robinson Cano, and I'd rather have Robinson Cano on a team than any Royals player. Just remember Kansas City fans, while Cano is batting for another World Series ring, the Royals will be hoping for next year.....again! Keep this allstar game in your deep memories, because I hope MLB puts you last on the list to get another one for years to come. Also, keep your memories of 1985 fresh, because that will be the closest you come to another World Series!"
