Backup MU quarterback to transfer
By TEREZ A. PAYLORThe Kansas City Star
Missouri backup quarterback Ashton Glaser has left the team and will transfer to Missouri State, he announced Monday afternoon.
MU director of media relations Chad Moller said Glaser, a redshirt junior from Springdale, Ark., is leaving the team in good standing and the school will assist him in the move.
The announcement came after Glaser sent out an ominous Twitter message early Monday morning that read: MIZZOU has been amazing and Ill never forget it but for now I need to do whats best for me.
He later wrote that he will forever be a Tiger at heart.
Glazer spent the spring behind redshirt freshman Corbin Berkstresser on the depth chart. When starter James Franklin went down because of a shoulder injury midway through spring practice, it was Berkstresser who garnered the majority of the reps with the first team, not Glaser.
Glaser, who was arrested for unpaid traffic tickets in March, did not attempt a pass in his collegiate career, though he appeared in his first college game in a 69-0 win over Western Illinois last season. He rushed twice for 3 yards.
Glasers decision, plus the addition of highly-touted freshman Maty Mauk, leaves Missouri with three scholarship quarterbacks for the upcoming season.
